"You're just a girl, I don't expect you to understand."
"Who is the adult in charge here?"
"You should smile more."
"You don't know what you want. You are not a mother yet."
These are just some of the sentences that were said to me over the years by people I worked with.
I wondered, what is going on in the mind of a person who allows himself to speak like that to a colleague?
How absurd it is that today such sentences are still uttered in the workplace and outside of it. It shows us how relevant the fight for gender equality is still. It's not personal, it's a social phenomenon across countries and cultures.
It is an ironic project that points out the absurdity of fearing women and gender discrimination in the corporate world. The project puts the viewer into the perspective of the discriminatory employer and his fears of an egalitarian reality.
Five clothing sets would be present during the experience. The garments play on the spectrum of the female stereotype, gentle, extroverted, sexy, and infantile, who chases and takes over the office space.
My work process was self-taught and created a holistic digital project. The first of its kind in the jewelry and fashion department in Bezalel.
